Practice Round 2

This picture goes way back into Tim's past. It's definitely a unique road-sign and rather full of clues. Where am I? What prompted this sign to be posted? Take a wild guess as to why I'm here (extra credit).

  1. well Tim and Laura, i have deciphered the intricate secretness of the bruneau hot springs snail. heres the dealio...the trailers in the background indicate that the site is highly expirimental (im guessing the trees in the background are mutant) so that led me to the hypothesis that its highly confidential too. The part in the sign that mentions "impact area" confirms my severly educated guess, the beware sign has also led me to believe that the snail is very large (well duh...the name bruneau) and that in inhabits a hot springs. i believe that you, Tim are there to deactivate the snail so that the common good of the world is saved....and you brought laura along with you because she is a woman, and she will probably be doing all the dirty work for you.

    love , captain obvious

P.S. did we miss the wedding? are you already on your honeymoon? if ya are, i should tell you that you sure didn't choose a very romantic place.....

just for the others reading this, i will be discreet, but it has something to do with a keyboard and a screen, you turn it on and off, and you can play computer games on it.....ooops did i just say that aloud?

  3. You're right. This isn't a very romantic spot. Neither is sitting in front of the computer, unless of course we're working together on our blog. Do you have any better suggestions?

  4. This is in Southwestern Idaho in Owyhee County where the Bruneau Hot Springs snail (Pyrgulopsis bruneeansis) has been found living in about 128 hotsprings in the area. Its a tiny little critter that only gets about 4 mm long. It has a hard shell that might get up to 4 whorls. The water output of the springs has been dropping in recent years and and some of them have gone dry. There is a struggle between the government and the farmers who are trying to decide if the diminishing water is caused by irrigation pumping or if it is a natural phenomonon. The snail has been listed as endangered, removed from the list, and then added again.

I'm guessing that Tim was either rafting in the Bruneau River or hiking in Scenic Deep Canyon. He might have been soaking in one of the hot springs.

  5. My guess is that you passed this sign on the way to a geocache. Or you had to go and work on the power company's surveliance and security system to protect that protected the poor snail. The sign is too weird not to explore the reason if you are related to Dad Parks who took every interesting road he ran into and is notorious for the nudist colony backroad in. You fell into a mud pot and Laura had to pull you out. Hmm. There are holes in my theory now that I read it!

It somewhat surprises me that the route to Arizona from Phoenix goes through Idaho. Which software or navigation system are you using?
