Pregnancy

T + 5 days (Will Peter's birthday be before daddy's?)

Happy Sabbath,

This morning we didn't make it to chuch. Laura isn't feeling extra social (at this point that is expected) and we are busy. Not having Peter mind you, but trying to have him! We purchased a vile of Castor Oil (misspelling intentional). Early this morning I mixed up a nasty cocktail for Laura with some orange juice and baking soda. After a few more hours of sleep, Laura woke up to discover it was remarkably effective. However she's still pregnant, just 4 lbs 5 oz lighter.

On a positive note Laura is nesting. Nesting and "day of rest" don't mix so we compromised and took a walk (Laura 3 cats, Tim 1 cat) followed by scrubbing the tub. Laura is now taking a nice, warm, relaxing bath while listening to the service at College Church and waiting for Castor Cocktail #2 to take effect.

"I Want to Have A Birth Story" (13 Days 'til Peter's Post Pregnancy)

We just got back from visiting the doctor. Now that we are in the final lap these visits happen weekly. We were told (after Peter kicked the Transducer, again) that Laura was posterior and dilated less than 1cm. Translation: Thanks for playing, come again next week. I'm afraid we emotionally budgeted for Peter to be early. Advice to other pregnant couples: Just take it one day at a time!

This evening our friends Chris and Linda invited us to Indian Food. Laura slurped down two *mango lasses, a couple of *potato balls and several *curries. Poor hungry Tim scraped out a few leftovers off the rice and curry dishes.

Laura continues to excel at finding cats as we walk through our neighborhood. We play this game on our walks, 1 point for every cat spotted. Pregnancy seems to add to her feline spotting acumen as she routinely spots twice as many cats as I do. The record for one walk is 11 cats.

"Locked and Loaded" (16 Days 'til Peter's Post Pregnancy)

IMG_3934-01Sixteen days until Peter's due date. We got up early this morning (Sabbath) and took a walk while the sun rose over the hills and into the clouds. Peter has dropped noticeably from yesterday, making it even harder for Laura to bend over.

People ask if Laura has had any strange cravings. The answer is, not really. There was the Root Beer Float made with Hot Chocolate , but that was really good! The next best story are the cold refried beans Laura ate plain out of the can with a spoon but. I can't cry CRAVING too loud, it reminds me of my batchelor days. We have both been craving Dreyers "Whole Fruit" popsicles but that's not strange at all, those are good!

Aside from the growing belly and difficulty in exercise I'm still married to the same Laura. But there have been changes! Our library was once rated a very conservative "G". With the influence of racy books like "The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding" complete with 120 illustrations and "A Child is Born" (A Complete Pictoral Guide to Birth) we have probably landed at a solid "R".
