tell is a random news-type blog written by the folks that put together Yahoo's

Happy Canada Day!

IMG_5845.jpg
My more informed reader will realize that Canada Day was the 1st, not the 4th of July. That is because I am mentally delayed by at least 3 days. It takes time to sort through all the genius ideas and find one sufficiently prosaic for posting on my blog.

Laura purchased some fireworks today to celebrate Canada day. Of course most fun fireworks are illegal. Since we don't have an Indian reservation handy poor Peter will just have to live without the fire engine's red glare and the bombs bursting in daddy's hand.

Laura and Tim's new abode

TENT!!!
Laura and I saw an ad in the newspaper that made us wish for the good 'ol days of camping. What was the ad for? A tent! Not one of those little 1 lb. pillow slip with stakes variety but a capital T-E-N-T! No ducking in this monster, the roof is well over 6 ft tall and floor space is measured in hundreds of feet. Want to park the stroller inside? How about a queen sized double height mattress? You'd still have room for the love-seat and crib! It even has curtain dividers to make rooms. The bears can enjoy the food left in the kitchen side of the tent separated from the terrified kids in the center partition while the parents blissfully sleep through the whole deal in their own room!

My faithful reader may ask, what would you do in a tent that big?

The answer of course is Surf the Internet*

*Did I mention it's got power and Wi-Fi? (when we are camping in the back yard)

The Dirt Slide

Dirt Slide 1Dirt Slide 4Dirt Slide 5Dirt Slide 6
When my brother and I were little and living in New Mexico we built dirt slides, a steep section of debris-free dirt perfect for sliding on our bums. We dug a ditch halfway down for more excitement and called it a butt-breaker.

While walking along the path near Rook's Park. I saw a little path leading off through the bushes. Low and behold on the other side was a dirtslide of mammoth proportions! The top was way above what can be seen in the picture. It even has a butt-breaker in the form of a small cliff seen in picture 2.

I looked at the hill for a second. Looked down at my khaki shorts with the bright green thread holding together what used to be a huge tear and let 'er rip. I heard one of my 2nd cousins who happened to be hiking near-by utter, "He's nuts!" No just reliving a legacy. It was just as much fun as I remembered it. Though my broken bottom isn't as resilient as its former self.

Peter Learns to Finger Paint

IMG_5737.jpg
Today Laura made some fun finger-paints using vanilla pudding cups and food coloring. We had Grape, Lime, Blue and Orange colors. We all put on our old clothes and painted on an old piece of poster board. Of course that got old so we started painting on each other, a much better canvas. We topped off our experience with showers all around.
